Rui is known for his likable and positive energy on stage. He gives audiences his perspective as a recently married millennial who is far from ready to handle the tasks traditional husbands are expected to manage. Growing up bi-racial and with young immigrant parents shaped Rui's perspective and provide his audiences with a unique outlook on life and dealing with family. Ultimately, Rui strives to make anyone who comes out to a show feel like they're hanging out with an old friend who is updating them on life since they last spoke.

Rui was a Finalist in the 7th Annual San Diego's Funniest Person Contest at the Mad House Comedy Club. In 2018 Rui performed at the Burbank Comedy Festival in Burbank, California. Most recently in 2019 Rui was part of the DC Comedy Festival in Washington, DC and the Oak City Comedy Festival in Raleigh, NC.
